Halle Berry, 54, trained hard to play an MMA fighter in her movie, Bruised, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The 54-year-old shared a new behind-the-scenes look at her training for the movie, where she got a lesson from UFC fighter, Valentina Shevchenko. In the clip, Halle throws a punch in Valentina’s direction, while the UFC champion kicks back.
Despite being a novice, Halle looked like a pro in the clip. She wore a one-piece, spandex workout outfit, with her hair pulled back into a ponytail, and truly looked like she meant business. “Learning from the champ,” Halle captioned the quick clip. In Bruised, Halle plays a disgraced MMA fighter who has to face one of the rising stars in the sport, while also raising her six-year-old son.
In addition to starring in the film, Halle also made her directorial debut with the movie. Netflix acquired the distribution rights to the film ahead of its premiere at TIFF, but a release date on the streaming platform has not yet been confirmed. However, Halle has given some sneak peeks on her Instagram page, and paparazzi photos showed her looking tough while on-set in 2019.
While 2020 has been a rough year for so many, Halle has, luckily, had a few things to celebrate. In addition to the premiere of Bruised, she also started a new relationship with Van Hunt. After weeks of teasing on social media that she was dating somebody, Halle went public with her romance in mid-September by posting a photo of herself in a t-shirt that had his name written across the front.
“Now ya know,” Halle captioned the pic, where she was beaming from ear to ear. Just a few weeks later, the lovebirds posted their first selfie together, where they rocked matching protective face masks amidst the coronavirus pandemic. “So far, things couldn’t be better,” a source told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY about Halle’s new romance. “She’s very happy with him. She wasn’t looking for anything when they got together so it really took her by surprise, but in the best way!”
