The Jersey Devil has risen again -- or so it seems! Dave allegedly saw the mysterious, winged creature when he was driving on Route 9 in Galloway, New Jersey. At first, he thought he was seeing a llama, but his mind was completely blown by what happened next. “It spread out leathery wings and flew over the golf course,” he told NJ.com. And he even got a picture! (CLICK HERE TO SEE).

The Jersey resident swears he didn’t Photoshop the picture. “A friend suggested that maybe it was an animal running and an owl grabbed it, the photo being a combination of them,” Dave added. “That’s still not my first instinct, but I don’t know how to explain it otherwise. I think I saw a large, flying mammal about the size of a deer.”

The legend of the Jersey Devil is as follows: A witch, Mother Leeds, and Devil gave birth to a normal child, who eventually changed form to a creature with hooves, a goat’s head, bat wings and a forked tail. It flew up the chimney after changing, and wasn’t seen again until 1890.

There have been many sightings of the Jersey Devil in the years since, and it has become a major cultural icon in the state of New Jersey. However, because there there’s no hard evidence that this creature actually exists, there are many skeptics, especially because belief in the Jersey Devil requires belief in the supernatural. Hmm…kinda fishy, no?
