The court hearing confirmed an Aug. 20 report that Troy tried to gas himself in a parked car while intoxicated on Aug. 18. Police found him at Cantley Park in Doncaster after his family reported him missing, and when they arrived at the scene, he admitted to the suicide attempt. Since he was not driving the car, Louis’ dad said “No” to a breathalyzer test, and was taken to the police station, where he continued his self-harm attempts.

“Whether this was a deliberate refusal could be argued because of his mental state and that he had just inhaled carbon monoxide before the police arrived,” Troy’s lawyer said in court. “Mr. Austin had given up at this point. He was not obstructing.” Taking his mental state at the time into account, the judge dismissed the case, but Troy was given ten points on his license and had to pay a fine.
Troy divorced Louis’ mom when the singer was just five years old, and when she remarried, Louis took his stepfather’s surname. “Troy has found it difficult to be a father to Louis because he hasn’t had a father figure himself,” Troy’s brother, Terry, said outside the courtroom. “Troy knows he has made mistakes with Louis, but all we want to do is be proud of Louis and what he has achieved. But this isn’t about Louis — this is about pressure between Troy and his brother Dean and a legal battle between them about their hotel.”
The fight with his older brother is what caused Troy to go off the rails on the day of his suicide attempt, but now, he is being checked in on by Terry on a regular basis. And, he hasn’t lost hope about a relationship with the One Direction singer. “Troy loves his son,” Terry added. “Maybe, hopefully, one day Louis will come and see his dad.”
HollywoodLifers, do you think Louis will ever have a relationship with his dad?
