It was bound to happen eventually. Sam Woolf was eliminated on the May 1 episode of American Idol. In a strange, unnecessary twist, Ryan Seacrest gave the remaining 5 contestants ballots to vote for the option of keeping everybody on the show for one more week and eliminating two the following week, or to eliminate one that night — as has been the case each night previously. The Idol hopefuls chose to eliminate one that night, which turned out to be Sam. HollywoodLife.com spoke to Sam after the show and while Sam doesn’t have any hard feelings about his elimination, he wasn’t thrilled with how it went down — and nor were the other contestants! Read on to find out what they had to say!
Jena Irene, Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, Alex Preston and Sam Woolf all delivered amazing performances on Wednesday, April 30, but on Thursday, May 1, one American Idol singer had to leave the competition. With less than a month to go to the finale, one of America’s favorites was sent home. Keep reading to see whose journey ended tonight.
The incredibly shy Sam Woolf has been given the heartthrob label ever since his tenure began on American Idol, but he’s never seemed to revel in the attention as some other boys his age might! Well, this was basically confirmed for us when we caught up with Sam after the April 23 show where he told us all about how he feels about the “heartthrob” label!
Before a pack of tweens come at me with pitchforks, let me explain: it’s not that I think that Sam Woolf, 17, isn’t talented, nor do I think that he doesn’t deserve to still be in the competition. However, I really don’t think that the judges should have used their one-time-only save on a contestant like Sam, whose performances have often been inconsistent. Furthermore, we’re only in the Top 8! The judges are sure to regret using their save so soon. Do you agree?
We didn’t think this would happen so soon! On the April 3 American Idol results show, the judges chose to use their save to keep one lucky contestant from elimination! Read on to find out who was saved from the guillotine and tell us if you think they deserved it!
On the April 2 episode of American Idol, viewers got a surprise treat in the form of duets from our Top 8. They were all pretty great, but Malaya Watson and Sam Woolf‘s performance of “Lucky” was one of our faves. Not only were the vocals on point, but Malaya worked that stage like the diva she was, giving Sam flirty eyes and circling around him. Hilariously, Malaya told HollywoodLife.com after the show that she felt “the evil eye” that all of the girls in the studio audience were giving her. She’s the best. Read on for more on what both Sam and Malaya had to say about their charming duet, and click through to watch!
American Idol is now in its Top 9, and the theme for the March 26 episode is “I’m With The Band,” where the contestants covered songs from “rock royalty” — also, Plain White T’s and Evanescence. There were a lot of great performances, but Sam Woolf definitely melted some hearts with his rendition of every girl’s favorite acoustic jam that they like to think is about them — “Hey There Delilah!”
The Feb. 26 performances were a bit of a debacle, so we weren’t too sure what to expect with this results show. For example, Malaya Watson has been a favorite so far but her performance last night was not up to her usual gold standard. If Malaya gets voted out, we’re going to need to have a talk with America. Also, we thought that Randy Jackson kind of threw Malaya — and the other Idol hopefuls who didn’t fare so well — under the bus! Rude. See below for who didn’t make it to the Top 12 and tell us if you agree with America’s choice!
Finally — the finals! On the Feb. 26 episode of American Idol, the Top 13 sing for America’s votes — and there are more ways to vote for your favorite contestants than ever before! America’s choice may not be too difficult, though, since many of the contestants made some really confusing song choices, which we hate to see from such a talented group. See below for our full recap and to tell us who YOUR favorites were!
This season’s top 15 guys went head to head (voice to voice?) on the Feb. 19 episode of American Idol, and while there were quite a few stand-out performers, one contestant stood head and shoulders above the rest: Florida native Sam Woolf! Excuse me while I totally fan-girl over him.
