It’s a new year, which means you have 365 days to use the power of your voice to help create change for the better! But, how? — Halle Berry is learning to “articulate clearly” with her first read of 2021: The Power Of Voice: A Guide to Making Yourself Heard. The actress took to Instagram Stories on January 5, to share the forthcoming Denise Woods title. The book, which includes a foreword by Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali, is available on January 26, but you can pre-order now.
Halle, who dubbed The Power of Voice as “a must read for anyone who has something to say,” knows the author on a personal level. Woods is a celebrity producer and voice coach, who worked as the creative consultant for Halle’s directorial debut of the film Bruised. She contributed to the authenticity of Halle’s performance in the starring role as Jackie Justice, a disgraced mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who faces one of the rising stars of the MMA world. Bruised made its world premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12.
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that every voice matters — so, The Power of Voice has arrived at the right time. According to the book’s description, it contains the real-life tools to help readers “gain confidence in any situation, release tension and stress, become powerful public speakers, find their truest form of expression and address speech issues such as up-speak, vocal fry and nasality.”
If there’s someone who’s suited for the job, it’s Woods. The renowned vocal coach and author has worked with stars like Will Smith, Idris Elba, Kirsten Dunst and Jessica Chastain. In The Power of Voice, Woods shares her secrets, tips, lessons, and stories that have helped Hollywood’s biggest stars become confident, effective communicators.
