As the saying goes, ‘love is love,’ and that goes double when it comes to the love that these queer parents have for their kids. As it turns out, some of the biggest names in music, movies, television and sports have been raised by members of the LGBTQ+ community. Kendall Jenner & Caitlyn Jenner — Caitlyn Jenner became one of the most famous trans women when she came out in 2015. Two of her biggest supporters were her daughters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner. “When my dad came out as transgender, our relationship grew,” Kendall said when discussing Caitlyn in a 2020 interview. “She could finally be honest with me. We could talk about deep emotions she was feeling through that time. Growing up, my dad was not usually one to talk about her feelings so that was a big step for us.”

After the divorce, Kathryn became a semi-professional bodybuilder, but now works as a massage therapist and enjoys rock climbing. “My mother has a really strong sense of self, which is probably more inspiring to me as a grownup than it was to me as a kid,” Amy told The Guardian in 2016. “Back then, I was like, ‘Mom, can you not show up in the cool jumpsuit and the spiky hair?’”

Jennifer Grey & Father Joel Grey — Joel Grey — a Hollywood legend who has won an Academy Award, a Tony, a Golden Globe and two Grammys – came out as gay in 2015 at age 83. His daughter, ‘Dirty Dancing’ star Jennifer Grey, supported her father in finding his truth. “He’s a lot more gay!” she said in 2015. “The truth is, he’s a lot happier. He feels very light, his energy feels light and joyful. It feels like there’s just more of a skip in his step. And it just feels like he’s alive.”

Liza Minnelli & Vincent Minnelli — Director Vincent Minelli – husband of Judy Garland and father of Liza Minelli – was never confirmed his sexual identity, but a biography alleges that he “could be defined as bisexual.” Liza, when speaking in 1987, said, “He was special. He was magical. He had a way of describing things to me, as a little girl, that I could understand and I could get excited about. He opened up possibilities to me in life. He made me really believe that there was nothing that couldn’t be done if you went about it the right way, if you used your head.”

Evelyn Foster – mother and former manager of Jodie Foster – passed away in May 2019 at age 90. Jodie’s brother, Buddy Foster, wrote a tell-all in the late 1990s, in which he claimed that he and Jodie were raised by lesbian parents. Evelyn never confirmed the claims and the notoriously private Jodie issued a statement at the time, claiming Buddy “has had a strained relationship with my family” and “my entire family consider him a distant acquaintance.”
