Plaid is the perfect print for the holiday season. Even beyond red and green looks, the pattern goes just right with the cooler weather — from coats, to pants, to skirts, skirts and more. Sure, some may love opting for a classic Christmas sweater during the holidays, but tartans and plaid prints are definitely one of the hottest styles of the season, as well. So many stars have rocked the look perfectly over the years, too.
There’s nothing like the Christmas season in New York City, and Gwen Stefani dressed the part when she was in town in 2019. The mom of three wore a high-waisted, plaid red skirt, which she paired with a red and black checkered top. She completed the look with mesh tights and cowboy boots, along with a pop of red lipstick to match the holiday-inspired outfit. The outfit was the perfect mix of sexy and practical, as it allowed her to brave the chilly weather, too.
If Jennifer Lopez is wearing something, you KNOW it’s stylish. She took on the plaid trend by rocking the pattern on a high-low dress in NYC. She paired the dress with a long, tan trenchcoat and pointy heels. The full ensemble was absolutely perfect for Jen’s press day in the Big Apple. She wore her hair slicked back into a bun, as well, to add some sleekness to the outfit.
We’ve seen Kendall Jenner rock a number of different plaid looks over the years. For one outing, she paired jeans with a flannel shirt. She dressed up the casual look a bit with heeled black booties, as well. Kendall also rocked small sunglasses and her hair down and straight to go with her outdoorsy ensemble.
Whether you try the plaid look in bright red hues, or tone it down with a black background color, plaid is a fun way to go festive without going totally overboard in the theme. We’re sure no matter how you try the look (if you choose to do so), though, you’ll look positively fabulous!
