Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion weren’t always bitter rivals. In fact, they came across as a dynamic duo when they released their collaboration “Hot Girl Summer” back in 2019. At the time, Megan, 28, talked about how she looked up to Nicki, 41, as one of her idols in the music industry. Now over four years later, the two rappers are dissing each other both in their music and on social media. So, where did everything go wrong in their relationship? Keep reading for the full timeline of Nicki and Megan’s feud.
Things seemingly turned sour for the rappers when Megan teamed up with Nicki’s rival, Cardi B, to release “WAP” in August 2020. The song was a huge hit and became the first female rap collaboration to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. However, one person that probably didn’t enjoy the song was Nicki, who was in the midst of a years-long feud with Cardi at the time.
Nicki proved her and Megan were no longer friends when she unfollowed the “Savage” singer on Instagram in January 2021. Megan eventually unfollowed Nicki.
During a Queen Radio show in September 2022, Nicki recalled an alleged conversation she had with somebody who allegedly tried to get Nicki to drink alcohol while she was pregnant and get an abortion. Nicki never revealed who that person was, but she did talk about how another rapper, seemingly Megan, hasn’t supported her in her career. Megan responded to Nicki’s comments on Twitter and wrote, “LIE.”
Nicki’s March 2023 track “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” appeared to include several jabs at Megan. “I don’t f*** with horses since Christopher Reeves,” she rapped, as a reference to the “Stallion” in Megan’s name. Nicki also rapped, “Dorito bitches mad that they not chose,” after Megan did a Super Bowl commercial with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Doritos.
On January 26, Megan released her new single, “Hiss,” where she raps about “Megan’s Law” which was enacted in the U.S. in the 1990s and requires authorities to make information regarding registered sex offenders public. Fans speculated Megan was shading Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender.
Nicki responded to the diss on an Instagram live where she shared a snippet of her song “Big Foot” that she’s now released. The song appears to make fun of when Megan was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez in 2020. Nicki went after Megan more on the Instagram Live, saying, “You have three Grammys and you have to learn how to rap on the beat and be comfortable in the music.” Nicki also “liked” anti-Megan posts on Twitter.
