There’s another Bachelor Nation wedding on the way! Gerry Turner popped the question to Theresa Nist during the emotional finale of The Golden Bachelor. While they were in Costa Rica, Gerry chose to be with Theresa over Leslie Fhima.
“I came to the realization that you’re not the right person for me to live with,” Gerry, 72, told Theresa, 70, before adding, “You’re the person that I can’t live without.” Theresa replied, “That was so good.” That’s when Gerry got down on one knee and proposed to Theresa with a gorgeous Neil Lane engagement ring. Theresa, who gushed she was “madly in love,” happily accepted his proposal.

Are Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist Married?
No, they’re not married just yet, but they will be very soon. The Golden Bachelor host Jesse Palmer told the couple during the finale that they were headed to Italy for a special trip. Gerry noted that he and Theresa will be using that as their honeymoon trip after they wed.
“We can use that as our honeymoon trip because we are going to get married,” Gerry said. “We’re going to do it as quickly as we can because, at our age, we don’t have a lot of time to waste. As quickly as we can put together a wedding plan, we’re getting married.”
When Are Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist Getting Married?
Gerry and Theresa will get married in a live TV wedding on January 4, 2024. That’s just over a month after The Golden Bachelor finale. “Save the date: Gerry and Theresa are getting married and guess what, we’re invited to the wedding because it will be live on ABC January 4,” Jesse told the audience and viewers across the country. “How ’bout that? It’s so exciting!”
Theresa told PEOPLE that her daughter has taken over the wedding planning. “She’s put together the vision board. She’s asking me, ‘Do you like this? Do you like this?’ And I go, ‘Wow, okay, I don’t even have to do this. This is awesome.’ She’s handling it pretty much,” the 70-year-old revealed.
Gerry added, “I can just hear the joy in her voice when I talk to her and she’s talking about whether it’s a dress or a cake or flowers or whatever it is,” he says. “It makes me so happy that she’s having this much of a good time with it. It’s like, what could be more fun?”
Bachelor Nation has had some notable TV weddings over the years. J.P. Rosenbaum and Ashley Herbert wed in a TV special in 2012. Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe said “I do” in a 2014 TV wedding. While Gerry is letting Theresa and her daughter handle most of the wedding planning, he wants to wear a blue suit. Theresa already knows what she wants her gown and veil to look like. She’s picked out the colors for flowers as well and wants flowers to be a focal point in the wedding because she’s a gardener.
For their reception, the couple wants long tables for a draped ceiling. “And originally our idea was to have these cypress trees like you see in Italy, but it’s not going to happen at this location,” Theresa told PEOPLE. “But it’s just as spectacular, what is going to happen.”
Gerry and Theresa have not announced exactly where they will be getting married. Gerry’s sons-in-law will be his best men, while Theresa’s daughter will serve as her maid of honor.
