The first season of Prodigal Son ended with a game-changing twist: Ainsley turned out to be her father’s daughter and killed Nicholas. Season 2 is going to pick up where the first season left off, and HollywoodLife has an EXCLUSIVE first look at new footage and the cast reveals some juicy season 2 spoilers.

“In this season, Malcolm has a huge secret, but unfortunately, he’s going to need some help from someone he’s not too keen on getting help from,” Tom Payne says in our EXCLUSIVE video. He’s talking about his father, Martin, who is back at Claremont Psychiatric Hospital.  Given what’s happened with Ainsley, Michael Sheen teased that the “relationships in the family are shifting.”

Halston Sage added that Ainsley is in a “dissociative state” after killing Nicholas. Malcolm is determined to make sure Ainsley doesn’t continue to follow down their father’s path. “To protect his sister, he engages in things that may have awakened something inside of himself,” Malcolm revealed. When she doesn’t remember what happened, Malcolm tells Ainsley he killed Nicholas. Now that’s love. (But what will Jessica think about all this?)

As time goes on, the secrets are going to continue to add up. It’s going to become harder for Malcolm to keep the lies hidden from everyone. In addition to the family drama, there will be plenty of fascinating cases for Malcolm and his crew to solve in season 2. “The crimes are more twisted and fun in a very dark way,” Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays Gil, said.

“Everything’s going to go a lot deeper this season, especially given the new world that we’re experiencing,” Frank Harts, who plays JT, noted. Michael teased that there will be “surprises and twists and turns at every juncture.” You got that right, Michael. Prodigal Son season 2 will air Tuesdays on FOX.
