After starring on all three seasons of Siesta Key, Alex Kompothecras’s time on the show is over. MTV broke the news on June 16, the very same day it premiered the second half of Season 3 — an airing that had to make major adjustments in the wake of Alex’s firing. “We’ve made the decision to cut ties with Alex and are editing the current season to minimize his presence. He will not be in future seasons of ‘Siesta Key’,” an MTV spokesperson told HollywoodLife, echoing the words of the Siesta Key Twitter account’s statement.

MTV did not clarify why it ousted from the show, but fans began to notice something was up when the 24-year-old law school student was removed from the opening credits during the Season 3B premiere on Tuesday night. Additionally, his scenes were removed, and the premiere as a whole was edited down to 54 minutes (a stark contrast from the two consecutive one-hour episodes that were originally scheduled). After the episode finished playing, MTV announced Alex’s departure — however, it already wiped Alex’s bio from the show ahead of the premiere.
Fans were expecting to watch the aftermath of Alex’s cheating scandal with his co-star and ex-girlfriend Juliette Porter, despite dating Alyssa Salerno (whom he welcomed a baby girl named Alessi with on June 11). Season 3A left off on a cliffhanger when Alex and Juliette hooked up in Nashville, Tennessee, which Juliette even talked about in an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife.
“I actually had a major panic attack [about the hookup. I felt worthless, and not good. I really regretted it,” Juliette confessed in the interview shared on June 16, hours before news of Alex’s firing broke. Juliette also revealed that she hasn’t been in contact with Alex, and neither has their co-star Chloe Trautman. Alex “cursed [Chloe] out” over something that she posted on Instagram, Chloe told us. She had no kind words for Alex, adding, “He threatened my mom that if I didn’t take it down, then bad things about me were going to surface…So Alex can quite literally go f*** himself.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Alex went about his social media posts normally, as if MTV wasn’t about to drop a major announcement hours later. It was actually Alyssa’s birthday, so he wrote his girlfriend a birthday shout-out on his Instagram Story: “Happy birthday to the most beautiful girl I know.”
Alex has joined a growing list of reality television stars who have been cut from MTV in the past week amid the Black Lives Matter movement (although MTV has not revealed the reason of Alex’s exit). The network announced that it fired The Challenge’s Dee Nguyen over “offensive comments on the Black Lives Matter movement” on June 8, then Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni from Vanderpump Rules on June 9, followed by Teen Mom OG’s Taylor Selfridge over “past racist statements” on June 10.
