Losing a mother at any age is devastating, but for Louis Tomlinson, 24, to see his mother pass away at just 43 is unthinkable. Johannah Deakin lost her battle with “a very aggressive form of leukaemia,” her family confirmed in a statement to the Daily Mail.

“We respectfully request that the family are given time and space to grieve in private.” While fans respect Louis’s wishes, they can relive happier times by going through a gallery of their best and sweetest moments.

Born Johanna Pulston on March 25, 1973, her second husband, Dan Deakin, said that she was “first and foremost a truly amazing mother to seven children – Louis, 24, Lottie, 18, Félicité, 16, and two sets of twins, Phoebe and Daisy, 12, and Ernest and Doris, 2, — whose individual talents and success are testament to the principles and beliefs she instilled in them.”

Described as “incredibly selfless,” she was someone who worked “tirelessly on numerous charity campaigns, creating memories for many individuals and their families.” She was also a great support for Louis, as he rose from X-Factor contestant to one of the biggest pop stars on the planet.

Though Johannah remained in the hospital prior to her unfortunate passing, she was never far from Louis’s mind. “My mother, looking gorgeous before the Brits earlier this year,” he captioned a Nov. 18 Instagram post of him and Johannah standing together. “I love you and miss you so much!”

How utterly sad that she’s gone. Louis will get a chance to publicly say good-bye to her. The former One Direction member is scheduled to perform on the X Factor final on Dec. 10, and he will dedicate it to Johannah. Sadly, Louis mother was hoping to see her son return to the stage where he first broke out. While she may not be watching in person, she will be with Louis, in spirit, as he pays tribute to the woman who raised him.

Our thoughts go out to Louis and Johannah’s family during this unbelievable time of loss.
