Robert Davidson, 24, has confessed and pleaded guilty to murdering his baby daughter Aleah Thompson, 10 weeks, back in June of 2015, according to Daily Mail. The father, who now faces up to 50 years in prison, appeared in court on Nov. 28 to answer the charges of sex abuse of a minor and first-degree child abuse resulting in death. He’s arranged to be sentenced in February.
And as shocking as it is, Aleah’s mother, 22-year-old Lorena Thompson, had suspected that her boyfriend Robert had been hurting Aleah after she saw bruising on her daughter, but she failed to alert authorities or even protect her daughter. She didn’t even take her to her two-month checkup. Lorena ended up pleading guilty to neglect of a minor in July and was sentenced to five years of probation, reported the Washington Post.

It wasn’t until late August 2015, about two months after Aleah’s death, that the couple was arrested. On that tragic night in June, Robert called 911 to report that his newborn baby was unresponsive and not breathing, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Police Department. He called on June, 23 at 7:18 p.m. After paramedics arrived at the family’s home in Rockville, Maryland, little Aleah was rushed to a nearby hospital.
She was later airlifted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC, where she died from her injuries three days later. Aleah’s death was ruled a homicide by the Chief Medical Examiner and was said to be caused by multiple blunt force injuries. The autopsy also revealed that the infant had suffered a broken collarbone and had 34 rib fractures in various stages of healing.
The injuries were said to be a result of what has been described as at least three “severely traumatic events.” The poor child even had injuries to her head, eyes, and spine. A forensic anthropologists has concluded that the abuse started during the first two weeks of the baby’s life, and the last of the incidents took place just before her death.
During interviews with authorities, Robert admitted to “committing acts that constitute sexual abuse of a child.” He also said he had dropped Aleah several times in the past and “aggressively” shook her at least once on the day of the incident. However, it has not been specified why Robert was charged with sexual abuse. His attorney said cryptically in court that his client had told police he was trying to remove “mucus and other substances” from Aleah’s body, but that he did not do it for sexual gratification.
