Katie May was 34 years old when she died of stroke on February 4, 2016, and now new information about how she had a stroke at such a young age has been revealed. The death certificate for Katie states that a blunt force injury to her neck tore an artery, which cut off the blood flow to her brain, reports TMZ. The certificate also lists her death as “accidental,” revealing that it was caused during a “neck manipulation by chiropractor.”

These new details are extremely upsetting, but they do solve the mystery that surrounded Katie’s sudden death. It was originally reported that Katie had taken a fall during a photo shoot and believed she might have a pinched nerve, which is what led her to seek treatment by a chiropractor. Katie’s appointment was on a Friday, and just two days later on Monday, February 1, she suffered the stroke that left her on life support for four days before she passed. So sad.

Per the report, Katie’s family is aware of the accident that caused her death, though they would not comment on whether or not they plan to sue the chiropractor for malpractice. When HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY spoke to Katie’s sisters, Megan and Jenna, in the days following her death, they shared their grief over having to remove her from life support once doctors confirmed that she was brain dead.
