Renee Zellweger, 47, sat down for a tell-all interview with The Advocate and boy did she get candid about her quickie marriage and even quicker annulment from Kenny Chesney, 48. The actress and the country sensation shocked the world when they wed May 9, 2005 after dating for only four months. By September, Renee wanted their marriage wiped off the books, citing “fraud” as the reason, which many news outlets took to mean he was gay and had fooled her.

“I forgot about that. It’s a pretty big thing to forget, isn’t it? That made me sad,” she candidly revealed to the magazine about her fraud allegations. “It made me sad that somehow people were using that as a way to be cruel and calling someone gay as a pejorative, which has fateful consequences. Of course, there’s the bigger-picture problem of why anyone had to make up a story at all.” Hmmm, that’s still not a direct denial about Kenny’s sexuality.

While Renee may feel sad that people took her claims of marital fraud to mean Kenny was gay, she has never come out and said that he wasn’t, which would clear up the entire issue! When they split, all she said was that, “I would personally be very grateful for your support in refraining from drawing derogatory, hurtful, sensationalized or untrue conclusions and greatly appreciate your understanding that we hope to experience this transition as privately as possible.” A simple “Kenny is not gay” would have gone a long way to clearing things up.

Even when she was asked the follow-up question about whether or not she was tempted to jump to Kenny’s defense after the gay rumors started, she still maintained a defiant air of silence. “Well, I’d said all I needed to say on that subject. I’m an old-fashioned gal who doesn’t feel it’s appropriate to hang out your laundry on the lawn. I feel you devalue yourself as a human being when you share very personal things with a bajillion strangers who are making fun of you. I just don’t see that there’s any dignity in that.” That’s fair enough!

HollywoodLifers, do you think Renee will ever directly address Kenny’s sexuality rumors?
