As Rob Kardashian prepares for fatherhood, the once-reclusive reality star is reflecting on his past struggles with body image. For the first time, Rob is opening up about why he avoided his family and being seen in public, according to a new report. Read all the details, right here.
Before Blac Chyna, 28, came along, Rob Kardashian, 29, was stuck in a pretty dark place. His life was turned upside down upon hearing the news that had been diagnosed with Type I diabetes. As he continued to gain weight, he fell deeper into a state of depression and started distancing himself from family. He even missed Kim and Kanye‘s wedding! “I was doing my suit fittings in Paris right before the wedding and I just wasn’t comfortable,” he confessed to People. “I’m 6’1″ and at my most I probably weighed 300 lbs.”
Soon enough, he was completely reclusive, and almost never left the house. Looking back now, the sock designer regrets missing so many “birthdays and vacations,” but couldn’t deny the fact that his weight gain was an issue. Rob hid from the cameras, and even blew off Khloe when she tried to fix him up with a personal trainer. “[Khloe and I] butt heads about it. She’s all about, ‘your biggest revenge is your body,’ and I’m trying to find happiness in my own way.”
As Khloe discloses in her book Strong Looks Better Naked, working out was her saving grace during tough times with Lamar Odom. But Rob needed to find his OWN way to cope. The struggle of coming up with his own solution only pushed him further away, as he started questioning every move he made. His personal identity was dwindling, and his confidence was at an all-time low, until Blac made him feel wanted! “I’m still not fully happy looking at myself in the mirror, but I’m working towards that. And I’m happy.” Baby steps, Rob, baby steps.
