Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson is charging former co-host Steve Doocy in a bombshell lawsuit that he sexually harassed her ‘severely and perversely.’ She also claims that while they were on ‘Fox & Friends,’ Steve treated her like a ‘blonde female prop!’
Fox News has been rocked by the claims from Gretchen Carlson, 50. Not only has the former host of Fox & Friends claimed that the news channel’s chairman and CEO, Roger Ailes, 76, sexually harassed her for months, but she says her co-host, Steve Doocy, 59, was just as gross and abusive!
Steve “engaged in a pattern and practice of severe and pervasive sexual harassment,” according to Gretchen’s complaint, filed by her lawyers in the Superior Court of New Jersey on July 6, per Politico. Steve’s alleged actions included “mocking [Gretchen] during commercial breaks, shunning her off air, refusing to engage with her on air, belittling her contributions to the show, and generally attempting to put her in her place by refusing to accept and treat her as an intelligent and insightful journalist rather than a blond (sic) female prop.”
Gretchen also claims she was fired from Fox & Friends in 2013 because she complained about Steve’s actions. She remained with the news network, hosting The Real Story, until June 23, 2016, when her contract was quietly terminated. Gretchen and her lawyers claim she was fired after because she just simply wouldn’t have sex with her boss, Roger Ailes.
“We believe that Mr. Ailes’ behavior toward Gretchen, as described in the complaint, speaks volumes about what she had to endure,” Martin Hyman, one of Gretchen’s lawyers, said about this lawsuit. According to their documents, Roger allegedly made constant “sexually charged comments” to her, ranging from lewd innuendo to horrendous “demands for sex” as a way to “improve her job standing.“
Roger also reportedly asked Gretchen to show “her posterior” and “instructed her to wear certain outfits” that “enhanced her figure.” Gretchen felt that she finally “had to stand up for myself and speak out for all women and the next generation in the workplace,” she said in a statement after filing her lawsuit. She’s seeking compensatory damages, damages for mental anguish and punitive damages.
