Harry Styles Signs $80M Record Deal — Find Out How Many Solo Albums He’ll Be Making

Harry Styles is officially going solo, and for a pretty penny! He just signed a contract with Columbia Records, supposedly for a whopping $80 million, but how many albums does that mean he'll make? Find out all the details right here! Even if One Direction fans didn't want it to happen, Harry Styles declared that he is going solo during the group's break by signing a solo record deal with Columbia Records on June 23. But a solo contract doesn't mean that Harry, 22, is done with 1D forever, right? Well, we now have new deets on Harry's deal -- which reportedly landed him a hefty $80 million -- and an amount like that certainly isn't just for one album!

Although it’s unclear exactly what Harry was looking for when he was shopping labels for his solo career home, but Apple started the “bidding” on Harry with an offer of $25 million for one album, according to HitsDailyDouble.com. If you think that’s crazy, that was just the beginning! Apparently the winning $80 million bid, which went to Columbia Records, locked Harry down for three full albums!

While Harry fans are surely rejoicing that they’ll get to hear his beautiful voice by itself on three records, this news is surely a bit alarming to Directioners. The 1D guys have promised over and over that they’ll be coming back from their hiatus in the next year and a half or so, but three albums in under two years sounds a bit impossible. Heck, One Direction did five in five years, and we thought that was impressive!

Especially with Harry’s acting career kicking off with Christopher Nolan‘s Dunkirk (on a strong note, at that), it doesn’t seem like Harry will be able to 100 percent devote himself to recording his first solo album for at least a few more months. Then again, there’s supposedly some proof from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) that Harry has already started working on solo songs, so he could be further along with album one than we think!

Plus, no details about the terms of the contract have been released (and Harry’s rep couldn’t give HollywoodLife.com any comment on the contract either). For all we know, Harry could have the rest of his life to finish these albums. He could easily reunite with 1D before finishing all three solo works! Maybe we don’t need to get too worked up over this just yet, Directioners!

No matter what Harry plans to do with his contract, one thing is for sure: He’ll be itching to beat out Zayn Malik‘s success! Zayn’s first post-1D album, Mind Of Mine, debuted at No. 1 in several countries, and his first solo single from it, “Pillowtalk” shot straight to No. 1 as well. Harry and Zayn apparently haven’t been on the best of terms since Zayn left, as Zayn has endlessly dissed his former group. So even if it is a while before Harry returns to 1D, maybe his bandmates won’t be so upset with Harry’s pending solo releases — he can show Zayn what’s up!
