The finale, split into two, took us on quite the journey. For Cece, she had to somehow deal with the fact that her mother refused to come to her wedding — while her soon-to-be hubby would have two moms there. Yup, his mother and her lady friend got engaged!
Unfortunately, the ring was in Sam’s (David B. Walton) coat pocket, so Jess (Zooey Deschanel) had thought he was going to propose, and she was not ready. Luckily, the ring was actually for Diane. So before he left, Sam told her it was pretty obvious why they wouldn’t have been together anyway.
You know the reason, Jess. #NewGirl pic.twitter.com/Rjrqm8h4iF

Part two began with Schmidt getting on a plane on their wedding morning to try and convince Cece’s mom to come to the wedding; naturally she was already on her way there and he was stuck on the plane. But he still wins at life: Cece’s mom played the voicemails for Cece and Jess — the voicemails Schmidt had been leaving her every Monday for a year. With that, Schmidt told Cece to have the party he’d been planning his whole life without him — because he got her. So, instead they FaceTimed through it.
The episode ended perfectly for Cece and Schmidt; he finally comes home in the middle of the night, and they have their wedding right there in the apartment with all their friends and their moms. And the glass they break? — the d-bag jar.
Reagan (Megan Fox) also returned this week since Nick had asked her to be his date — something he forgot to mention when he told Jess they could go together since they were both going solo. Yikes. At the wedding, Jess volunteers to help Nick by talking to Reagan. Yup, she puts her feelings aside and watched their love story happen; and he left for three months to be with Reagan.
