Ariana Grande, 22, hit up Whole Foods with her boyfriend Ricky Alvarez on March 17, looking completely casual in an oversized sweatshirt and leggings, except for one small detail — her hair. The “Focus” singer traded in her half-up ponytail for a double bun hairstyle straight out of the ’90s.
If you keep tabs on Ari’s hairstyles, you’ll know that she’s actually worn a similar style several times before. As recently as November, she wore her long locks half up, half down with two mini buns on either side of the top of her head.
While grocery shopping, Ariana decided to rock the double buns in a full updo, parting her hair down the center and pulling her hair back into two oversized knots. Keeping the buns slightly undone, the hairstyle went with her casual appearance even if it wasn’t a look we’re used to seeing.
Known as space buns, the hairstyle was super popular with the Spice Girls in the ’90s, and it looks like Ari is working to bring the trend back. To complete her look, she went with another popular ’90s trend — the nude lip.
Aside from bringing back beauty trends, Ariana has been hard at work on her new album, Dangerous Woman. After performing her newest single, “Be Alright,” on SNL on March 12, Ari officially released her second single from the album, which will be out on May 20.
