Kanye West, no one, least of all Taylor Swift, expected you to declare your intention to run for president in 2020 during your acceptance speech for the VMAs Video Vanguard Award. Yes, Taylor looked as stupefied as we all felt when you finished up your lengthy speech, which initially appeared to be an apology to the Video of the Year winner.. You certainly took a left — or will it prove to be a right? — turn during the Aug. 30 show when you wrapped up your speech with these words: “And yes, you probably could’ve guessed by this moment — I have decided in 2020 to run for president!”
Now, millions of viewers may have thought you were joking, but Hollywoodlife.com has learned exclusively that you are totally serious about your presidential intentions. “When Kanye speaks, people listen…everything he’s spoken has come to fruition,” explains a Kanye West insider. “Becoming the president of the U.S. would be the biggest accomplishment of his life. For that experience alone, to say the he’s president and to actually be, he wants that challenge,” the insider adds.
Well, Kanye, being the president of the world’s greatest super power would absolutely be a huge challenge, but I applaud your ambitions. You’ve always been an extraordinarily hard worker with high, perfectionist standards. Someone who has pushed to express new ideas and has striven to break new creative boundaries. Americans are desperately hungry for new ideas and for a Washington outsider’s point of view.
Seventy-one percent of Americans are unhappy with the country’s direction, according to a poll by Quinnipiac University released today, Aug. 31. Twenty-seven percent of Americans are angry at the Federal government and 49 percent are dissatisfied. That’s a whole lot of Americans searching for a new leader with an inspiring vision.
And Kanye, you have completely fresh ideas according to our insider close to you. “He’d love to re-write the U.S. Constitution and make it rhyme and flow so that people could dance to the music and also retain the words and the meaning of the Constitution,” explains the source. You’re even “thinking about doing a new album outlining [your] plans and policies for a better America and [are thinking] about calling it ’20/20 Vision.'”

An album outlining a new vision for America’s future might be a fabulous way of reading and inspiring young voters. Now, while we have no idea of what your policies might be, they have to be a whole lot better than building trillion-dollar walls along both our Southern and Northern borders to keep out Mexican and Canadian “aliens”. You have four years to hone your ideas about what it would take to make America a better, greater country for all Americans.
My guess is that you would not fall back on either platitudes, or on pitting different groups of people against each other. You would strive to inspire through positive aspirations versus nasty, negative campaigning. Like Donald Trump, you are wealthy enough to finance at least part of your own campaign, so you wouldn’t have to kowtow to special interest groups or wealthy individuals like the Koch brothers. And best of all, your wife, Kim Kardashian, supports you 110%, another insider told Hollywoodlife.com. Kim “wasn’t surprised at all with his speech. He discussed what he was going to hit on with Kim [and] Kim couldn’t have been prouder. She thinks Kanye is what the country needs.”
Hollywoodlifers, do you agree with Kim — should Kanye, 38, run for president in 2020? Let me know.
