Kat Graham On Nina Dobrev Leaving ‘The Vampire Diaries’ — It’s Bittersweet
“It’s very bittersweet,” Kat somberly told Nick Lachey, 41. “We’re all family, you know, and you always want to stay together forever, but everyone has their journey and all you can do is wish them well and support them. This was a decision that I know was made a long, long time ago.”
Kat, who attended Nina’s goodbye party in Atlanta during the weekend of April 4, also made sure to acknowledge that she’s standing by Nina, even though she’s leaving. “I’m just excited for her and to see what’s next,” she said, brightening up toward the end of her discussion with Nick.
And don’t worry TVD fans — Kat also teased that there are exciting things to come before the end of Season 6!
Ian Somerhalder Begged Nina Dobrev To Stay One More Season On ‘TVD’
While Kat is supporting Nina’s decision, it seems as though her co-stars were wishing she would stick around — and that includes her ex-boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder, 36, HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned.
“Ian met with Nina and pretty much begged her not to leave,” an insider told us EXCLUSIVELY. “Although her leaving does make things easier for him personally, he knows how important Nina is to the show. The Vampire Diaries worked because of the chemistry and tension between him, Nina and Paul [Wesley]. The love triangle was what fans responded to. Without Nina, Ian is very concerned with the direction the show will take.”
Still, that didn’t stop the actor from indulging in some very public PDA with fiancee Nikki Reed, 26, just hours before Nina announced the news.
Even though we’re totally upset over Nina’s decision, we’re so relieved that Kat supports her and we hope the rest of the cast does, as well!
