‘Teen Wolf’: What Is Deputy Parrish? Evidence Points Toward Him Being A Phoenix
Ever since Deputy Handsome’s introduction, viewers have known that he would be a supernatural creature of some sort. When he revealed to Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) that the reason he came to Beacon Hills was because he felt “drawn” there, there had been initial speculation that he, like Lydia (Holland Roden), was a banshee.
The mid-season trailer blew that particular theory out of the water, however, when keen-eyed fans noted a car on fire:
and Deputy Handsome naked and covered in ash:
Since then, speculation has run rampant that Jordan Parrish is a phoenix risen from the ashes.
We finally saw this scene play out in “Perishable,” (get it?) and Parrish was just fine (and we mean that in every sense of the word) after being literally doused with gasoline and set on fire.
However, the idea of him being a phoenix now seems a little simple considering the identity of The Benefactor which came way out of left field despite a number of other more likely candidates which would have made worlds more sense. (Just saying.)
Deputy Parrish Theorized To Be A Phoenix On ‘Wolf Watch’ — So, Could It Really Be That Easy?
On the August 18 episode of Wolf Watch, showrunner Jeff Davis said that nobody except for him knows what Deputy Parrish is — not even Ryan Kelley.
When Jeff revealed that we’d only learn of Parrish’s supernatural identity in Season 5, Wolf Watch mainstay DJ Cole Plante guessed that Parrish is a phoenix, and Tyler Posey piped in in agreement, noting that the promo material for the fourth season has the cast rising from the ashes.
Jeff kiiind of looked like DJ Cole Plante had just blown up his spot, but the show is taped — we highly doubt that The Powers That Be in the editing room would have allowed that particular reveal to be left up to DJ Cole Plante. (But hey, you never know.)
Deputy Parrish: Is He A Dragon? A Targaryen?
That said, while fire cannot kill a phoenix…
It also can’t kill a dragon.
Sounds a bit crazy, sure, but Supernatural did it first in their sixth season, and their dragons could take human form, too!
Or, maybe Parrish only has the blood of a dragon, à la Game Of Thrones. Look at those big, beautiful bright eyes — Deputy Parrish is clearly a Targaryen on the run from Westeros.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Is Deputy Parrish a phoenix, or was Wolf Watch a fake-out? Is he a dragon? Has anyone got any other theories? (Also, I want to hear your thoughts on that Benefactor reveal!)
