Yikes! Things aren’t looking good for Iman Shumpert, 26. The Cleveland Cavaliers star was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana at the end of Aug. 2016 and is still dealing with the backlash of his actions, according to TMZ.

Iman was reportedly pulled over outside of Atlanta late at night for an illegal lane change violation, according to the police report obtained by TMZ. The documents also noted that his taillights were out on the rented vehicle.

But things got even worse for the basketball player when the responding officer noticed that Iman “reeked of weed and his eyes were bloodshot.” Iman reportedly told police that he was coming from his “home girl’s house” and heading to pick up his father from the airport. But that didn’t stop the cop from administering a sobriety test, which determined Iman was, in fact, high.
Iman was handcuffed and detained on the sight for a DUI of marijuana and possession of illegal drugs charges. The Cavaliers recently issued a statement following the increasing news of Iman’s arrest, saying they have discussed the matter with their player. The statement declared that they “will monitor the progression of the pending case.” An official court date has not yet been set at this point, according to the public statement. And neither Iman nor his teammates have spoken out about the matter.
The bad news is truly coming at an awful time for Iman. The player has really been riding a high lately (no pun intended). After nabbing the victory in the 2016 NBA Championship, Iman recently starred alongside his fiancee Teyana Taylor, 25, in 39-year-old Kanye West’s “Fade” music video, which debuted at the VMAs. And the couple also celebrated another triumph after Teyana walked in the Yeezy Season 4 on Sept. 8.
It’s a little unclear what kind of consequences Iman will be facing due to the DUI, but it could be a hefty fine or possible prison time. Let’s hope this is a big wake up call to Iman that you shouldn’t smoke and drive.
