Calysta Bevier had ‘America’s Got Talent’ viewers totally speechless after her incredible audition on the June 21 episode. Get to know the brave girl who got Simon Cowell to push his golden buzzer here!
It’s not easy to impress Simon Cowell, but Calysta Bevier, 16, totally blew him away with her audition on the June 21 episode of America’s Got Talent. Her performance of “Fight Song” got him to push his golden buzzer, sending her straight through to the live shows. Here’s five quick facts about the talented teenager!
1. She’s a cancer survivor
Calysta emotionally admitted during her audition that she is a survivor of Stage 3 Ovarian cancer. This form of the disease is extremely rare in someone so young, and it was clear from her few moments on stage that she’s a tough chick and total fighter.
2. She goes by a nickname
When Calysta introduced herself to the judges, she did it as “Caly,” rather than her full name Calysta.
3. She’s a small-town girl
Calysta came to the big AGT stage from Grand Rapids, Ohio, a town that’s populated by less than 1,000 people! Something tells me that after her run on this show, she’ll get to see a lot more of the world…
4. She wants to inspire others
“I came here today to show people that, no matter what you’ve gone through, to keep facing your dreams,” Caly admitted before her audition. And the fact that she sang the always-inspiring “Fight Song” just proved that she’s really out there to send an important message!
5. She’s a cancer awareness advocate
Now that she’s in remission from her horrible disease, Caly wants to raise awareness for others. You can support her cause by checking out her Facebook page right here — she just threw an incredible Kickoff event to start spreading the word!
