He’s worked with Laverne’s OITNB costars in the past
As the president of The Virtual Stage, a Vancouver-based film and theatre company, Jono has made several short films. His latest, Sucklepump, “a bizarre comedy about unconventional breastfeeding methods,” starred two OITNB stars: Patricia Squire (Jimmy) and Joel Marsh Garland (O’Neill). He’s posted past Instagrams featuring all the Litchfield ladies, too!
He used to be a high school teacher
Good with kids, too? Jono taught high school theatre and photography in Vancouver. He also created and instructed the award-winning teen filmmaking program Killarney Films. Impressive!
He’s been crushing on Laverne for a long time!
It’s not clear how long Jono and Laverne have been dating, but it’s definite that they’ve known each other for quite some time. Whether they were being playful as friends, or dating under the radar, Jono has Instagrams of Laverne going back over two years ago! And they’re all adorable. There’s Laverne and her beau one Halloween, posing as a bloody vampire and a cat! There’s a pic of him snuggling up to her at the 2014 Emmys! They were close enough that she commented her congratulations on a picture of his friends’ new baby. It looks like this was coming for awhile!
He’s not afraid of a little PDA
Jono and Lavern’s relationship became public when they were seen making out at the Weinstein Company/Netflix SAG Awards afterparty at Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood on January 30. Laverne had just won the SAG for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series on OITNB, and Jono really helped her celebrate. The couple apparently danced and kissed the night away, and Jono even slapped her butt on the dance floor!
He has a great sense of humor
Jono’s films, stop motion projects, photography and posts all show off a wicked sense of humor. One of the best qualities in a person! A hilarious #TBT post showed him sitting with Laverne at the 2014 LOGO Trailblazers Honors, attempting to raise the roof while listening to Demi Lovato. Yeah, didn’t work out too well!
