The talk show panelist unfortunately fell ill live on The View on Jan. 19 after only 20 minutes into the broadcast. Candace was so sick in fact that she literally walked off the set during a commercial break — leaving some fans to wonder if the discussion at hand was getting too heated for the Fuller House star.

Luckily co-host Whoopi Goldberg, 60, came to her rescue, announcing that Candice “hasn’t been feeling well for the past couple hours” and said the panelists all believed it would be better “for her to get some rest.” Thanks for the clarification, Whoopi! “She didn’t want you to think she just walked off and wasn’t having it, she just really wasn’t feeling well,” she added.

A couple hours later, Candace herself tweeted that she had low blood sugar and was diagnosed with the flu, reiterating that her exit had nothing to do with the intense Hot Topics discussion about the controversy surrounding the lack of diversity at the Oscars. But are we really that surprised? Of course not! Candace is way too professional to rush off set due to a little controversy.

Right before Candace’s exit, Whoopie and guest-host Sunny Hostin, 37, disagreed over whether Jada Pinkett-Smith’s decision to boycott the Oscars is the right thing to do. During the discussion, Candace, playfully acknowledging that she wasn’t largely a part of the debate and turned to co-host Joy Behar, 73, and said, “Hi, Joy. How are you?”

Whoopie snapped back, “Well you know what, I talk about God, you gotta talk about these damn movies.” Candace simply smiled and responded, “I get it.” Clearly she was not feeling well and could barely invest herself in any conversation. Noticing that Candace seemed off, Whoopie then asked her if she needed some orange juice, to which Candace smiled and nodded.

Before the end of the show, Candace’s seemingly strange departure was addressed once again. “We got Candace some orange juice,” Whoopie explained to the audience. “I’d asked her if she needed something to drink because … she went pale white. So we got her something to drink, and her color’s coming back.”

We hope you feel better, Candice and are back to discussing Hot Topics in no time!
