‘Grizzly Adams’ Star Dan Haggerty Dead At 74

Dan Haggery, the actor famous for his role on the 70s show, 'The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams' has died. The tragic news comes during the same week as several other beloved Hollywood stars have died too. Dan Haggerty was one of Hollywood's most beloved TV actors from the 70s and 80s. Dan died on Jan. 15 after battling cancer and he was surrounded by family and friends at his home in San Fernando Valley, Calif., when he passed away in the early hours of the morning.

Dan was best known for playing the Grizzly Adams on his hit 1977 TV show, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, who was best friends with a grizzly bear. He also starred on CHiPs and Charlie’s Angels. Dan first discovered his cancer after having back surgery for a constant pain he was having. Sadly, that was when doctors realized he had cancer and it was too far along. Dan told his son, who informed family and friends so that they could come pay their respects, according to TMZ.

The show that made Dan famous and earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk is about a man named, Grizzly Adams, who lives in the woods after he was wrongly accused of murder. While living in the woods he adopts a grizzly cup and names him Ben. As the bear grows up, he becomes best friends with Grizzly and the two are inseparable. The TV series ended in 1982 in a made for TV movie, The Capture of Grizzly Adams.

Dan left a lasting impact in the world of television and he will be deeply missed. Another life cut short. This same week, David Bowie, Adam Rickman and Celine Dion‘s husband, René Angélil all tragically died of cancer.
