‘Glee’ Series Finale: ‘Dreams Come True’ — Season 6 Episode 13 Recap – Hollywood Life

‘Glee’ Series Finale Recap: Rachel Berry’s Dreams Come True

A baby, a Tony Award win, a world tour -- the series finale of 'Glee' was all about happy endings. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better, more fitting, conclusion to the show that made being a loser seem cool. It was super hard saying goodbye to Glee on March 20, especially knowing that Cory Monteith's unexpected death changed Ryan Murphy‘s original plan for the series finale. But after watching the episode, we can honestly say that we're satisfied with the way things ended for Rachel (Lea Michele) and the rest of McKinley High's graduates.

‘Glee’ Series Finale: ‘Dreams Come True’ — Season 6 Episode 13 Recap

After a flashback to 2009, where we learned how the glee club came to be, we were brought back to the present day, when New Directions was named the winner at Nationals! Three months later, the Superintendent announced that McKinley High would now become a high school exclusively for the arts. And Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) was named Principal. So then who took over the glee club, you might be wondering? Sam (Chord Overstreet), of course!

And while Sam focused on leading the future generations of New Directions, the rest of the gang celebrated their own successes. Mercedes was named as the opener on Beyonce‘s new tour and five years later, she headlined her own world tour.

Elsewhere in 2020, Sue (Jane Lynch) became Vice President of the United States (this is my only gripe about the series finale), Becky (Lauren Potter) served as the head of her security team, Will continued his life as the Principal of McKinley High — but he also has at least three kids now, Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) created a child of their own, which leads us to Rachel. She served as Kurt and Blaine’s surrogate, but she also married Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff) and won her very first Tony Award!

Finn Hudson Remembered In Series Finale

And just when we thought the finale couldn’t get any better, the entire group reunited in McKinley High’s auditorium, where Sue announced that it would now be named the Finn Hudson Memorial Auditorium. It was then that everyone — Rachel, Kurt, Blaine, Mercedes, Tina, Artie, Quinn, Puck, Santana, Brittany, and the all of the glee club members from the past (Sugar, Marley, Jake and more!) — burst into song, naturally, and danced around on stage to One Republic‘s “I Lived.”

Series Finale Song List
