‘Vampire Diaries’ Damon & Elena’s Rain Kiss Finally Happens — Season 6 Recap – Hollywood Life

‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Damon Takes Elena Down Memory Lane

In the 'How to make Elena remember' game, Damon is ready to try almost everything. However, there's one thing that she's ready to do -- and he's not. The Nov. 13the episode of 'The Vampire Diaries' had me crying and swooning for Delena, once again. Ever since Damon (Ian Somerhalder)'s return from The Other Side, Elena (Nina Dobrev) has been battling with herself, because she knows she loved him, but has zero feelings for him now. However, when they reunite on the dance floor in the middle of her date with her new crush, Liam, she realizes she wants those memories -- and she's willing to do anything and everything to get them. And trust me, you'll want to see the one thing he remembers so clearly.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Damon & Elena Kiss In The Rain [Finally]

So, following Elena and Liam’s first kiss, they’re basically dating now so they decided to go the hospital fundraiser party together — where teachers are hanging out and all the students are underage drinking. Normal. Naturally, Damon crashed.

‘Vampire Diaries’: Damon & Elena Will Never Have Another Rain Kiss

After a brief intro — “the new guy meets the ex” — Damon sweeps Elena onto the dance floor and tries to get her to remember their first dance. Instead it just upsets her and Damon, who actually reveals that he would never ever erase her, even if he was in pain. “I would rather spend every moment in agony, than erase the memory of you,” he tells her.

Her anger doesn’t last long. She decides she wants to try and remember — so, he takes her to the Mystic Falls line. Then he reminds her of a meteor shower when they were in the rain together. Even though it made all of us swoon imagining that, it didn’t work for Elena: nothing came back. So, she makes the sacrifice, actually crossing over the line into Mystic Falls, willing to risk her life to end the compulsion just to remember Damon. However, he grabs her and pulls her back, saving her life. Again.

The one thing she does remember is the water from the rain. She wants to know what happened, and keeps telling him she saw the water. But he lies . . . and says they went home (and leaves out the part that they made out!).

We did get to see his flashback though, finally — it poured during the meteor shower and they had that kiss in the rain we’ve waited six seasons for. After they kissed, Elena begged, “Promise me this is forever.” (Excuse me, just balling.) #DelenaRainKiss

He doesn’t tell Elena that, though. Instead, he sets her free. “I love you Elena, enough to let you go,” he says, walking away from her door. Damn you, Damon.

Stefan & Caroline: She’s Got A Thing For Ya, Mate

Alright, another couple we can’t get enough of is Steroline. Alright, they’re not a couple yet but they’re totally the Pacey and Joey of this show. Just let me show you.

Tripps’s vamp hunters kidnapped Sherriff Forbes, jholding her hostage until they could get Tripp back. So, of course this meant that Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola) had to work together. Cue Enzo, the one who can always break the ice. While Car tried to make the Tripp-Caroline exchange nice and easy, Enzo said what we’ve been literally waiting forever to hear.

“She’s got a thing for ya, mate.”

Of course, that was followed by Caroline telling Stefan that whatever he said, would never be brought up again. Naturally, that didn’t happen. After saving her mom, Stefan and Caroline had yet another, heart to heart, this time in a hospital hallway. Stefan asked her how and why she had a thing for him and how he missed it — to which Caroline, once again, gave an epic speech: “What kind of a stupid question is that? Why did I have a thing for you? I dont know Stefan, maybe it’s because I thought you were worth having a thing for.”

Stefan apologized for hurting her and not seeing it, but when she pretty much called him out for “not feeling it back,” he said, “I didn’t say that.”

However, Caroline’s exit speech once again was even better. She even said she accepted his apology — but still hated him:

If even just a little tiny piece of you felt for me what I was starting to feel for you, you wouldn’t have walked away. And I don’t hate you for that, I don’t hate you for mourning your brother, I don’t hate you for being hate biggest jerk on the planet while doing so. And I accept your apology… Yeah, I hate you. Because if I don’t hate you for ruining our friendship than I have to hate myself for ruining it. And I think I deserve better than that.

(Sorry, just have to have a quick told you so moment here. In season three of Dawson’s Creek, Pacey told Joey, “If you felt one shred of what I feel for you, we wouldn’t be standing here having this conversation.” Sound familiar?)

Bonnie & Kai, WTF?

Meanwhile, we kept flashing back to Bonnie and Kai and their insane hatred. After he shot her with an arrow, she can barely move, and definitely can’t kill him.

She can’t avoid him either. But to get rid of her magic, the one way that she could not save Kai, she put all her magic into her teddybear and sends it away. And at the end of the episode, we find out where she sent it — to Damon in the here and now. Way to go, Bonster, sending a message to the future. What a smart little witchy poo she is.

Oh, and we’ve got a feeling that Kai won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. While the only witch (that we know of) left on the REAL side is Jo (Jodi Lynn O’Keefe), we found out that she has a horrific scar on her stomach after her brother “gutted” her. Yup, Alaric’s GF is Kai’s sister. So if Jo decides to help bring Bonnie back, she probably will regret it after realizing that her psycho bro is comin’ back too.

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Will Elena ever remember Damon? Should he let her go? Do they belong together?
