May I just throw out there to everyone judging yhis family and calling it child neglect that they did not immediately notice just how sick she is. I am 20 years old and have gone into acute kidney failure eight times since I was 17. I can tell you that even at 17 it was very hard for me to know something was wrong, and even when I dis realize there was something I thought it was jist a UTI. And considering that I also am diabetic I’m sure this effected ny body nuch more harshly than truely’s. I cannot imagine how hard it would be to recognize this in a child, even if you have direct knowledge of it, considering that thwy cannot completely verbalize all of their symptoms. Due to my diabetes and other medical issues I am VERY in touch with my.body and I just shrugged this off the first time as nothing. Most doctor’s will tell you that kidneys are the “quiet killers” and in children it is almost never caught in time. I really do applaud them for their reaction and accommodation of truely, and if you have nothing nice to say then I can guarantee you have never had a health scare to this degree.

Where are her “sister” wives. None of those women were in the hospital with her? Nice

Is it just me, or has anyone ever noticed there is no physical contact in regard to consoling one another? I never see any of the sisters reach out to another sister when they are all on the couch, when one is obviously very upset, especially in the instance of Christine and her daughter Truely. Maybe it is just me.

I’ve noticed there isn’t much display of affection. I think in one episode they talked about how Kody doesn’t openly display affection to his wives because they are all uncomfortable with it. Maybe its the same with the ladies. But it seems like a hug, a pat on the arm or some other kind of physical acknowledgment would go a long way to break the tension that is so obvious. Sad.

Wow, what a bunch of mean spirited, nasty women commented on this story.

First of all, anyone who thinks the show is sequential needs to wake up. I really doubt Cody went looking for a car AFTER he found out Truely was at the E.R.

Second, calling Child Services? Are you kidding me? Do you have children? If you drop everything and rush them to the doctor each time they sneeze or feel lethargic, you’d drive yourself mad. Kids get sick and they do not always need a doctor. The flu doesn’t mean you need to go to the doctor. Kids get it and get over it with home health care. There was no way anyone knew how serious this was until her mother realized and then she responded appropriately.

And Meri? Yeah, so she’s a bit weepy, but she’s had a rough year. She can’t have more children, her daughter is leaving the nest, she’s wondering where she fits in the family, and is most likely premenopausal. Have you gone through menopause? It’s no picnic!

I hope nobody ever judges you as harshly as you’re judging this family.

And in the end… it’s a television reality show.
Without the drama, I doubt you’d be watching it.

Me? I’m 61 and wish I’d made the decision to be a sister wife years ago.
I’d love it.
I think they’re all beautiful, strong women and I think they’re all doing a great job!
I think Cody does an amazing job as a husband and father, as well.
And the children?
Well, wouldn’t we all love to have such loving, responsible, kind, and polite children?

In retrospect, I think maybe you mean girls are jealous.
Yup.. that must be it!

You’re right, all these “mean” girls are jealous. Doesn’t every woman wish their husband/boyfriend would hop from one bed to the next, then eventually end up in theirs?

Do you seriously think everyone here is jealous? Wow!

If Kody is your idea of a great husband, I feel very badly for you. I can’t imagine the level of sadness and disappointment someone must feel to look at him and think that he is in any way a decent example of a partner.

I’m so sick of whiny Meri and Mariah. I can’t believe she is going to this expensive college and strain the family finances like she’s a princess. Meri said Mariah was going to miss her siblings–no she isn’t! She acts like an only, entitled child. And they bought her a car! Aspyn was more worried about Truely than Mariah was. Truely being sick just interrupted Mariah’s attention with her party and leaving for college. I’m with octuplet about the Diggers–they don’t favor one child over another and Jim Bob is a rock for his wife when they have family sicknesses or problems. Kody should have been with Christine and Truely the whole time, not eating cake and sleeping with another wife. Yuck!

Kody doesn’t stay with his critically ill toddler. He has to fulfill his overnight stays with the wives. Meri and Mariah are disgusting, only concerned about themselves. As ugly on the outside as the inside. If Truley’s eyes hadn’t crossed they wouldn’t have taken her to the MD. Who would let their child lay lifeless not eating or drinking for days?

TLC would you be held responsible if this child had died? I am appalled at the behavior of the “adults” this is a sad family, neglect, jealously, narcissistic, self centered. You need to stop filming but I suppose the money is more important than family. You all have nothing to be proud of.

Did anyone else find this statement by Vhristine odd ? “Why didn’t I know that it’s this serious thing that if her eyes are going crossed you have to take her to Emergency? I just didn’t get that.”
REALLY???? Your young child is obviously ill. She’s listless, laying on a couch not moving, obviously not eating or drinking and now her eyes are crossing and you don’t think that constitutes an emergency?

Does anyone else think it odd that Christine and Kody had time to sit for the cameras while their child was in the hospital, supposedly gravely ill? The only place I would have been was with my child, not in front of cameras.

Although it is crazy to have 19 children as on the reality show with the Duggars, at least the father: Jim Bob Duggar was by his wife’s side whenever Josie the youngest child was sick. He always accompanied his wife to every doctor’s appointment and was there during every emergency. And he is there with all his kids, no matter whether it is dental appointments or something serious. And the Duggars do not allow any of their children to hold rank over their siblings. They are all treated equally. Maybe it’s because he has one wife, and does not have to cater to a special wife, like Kody does. Kody doesn’t seem to be all that interested in any of his kids, but because Meri is always shedding tears, and her spoiled daughter does the same, to get her way, he is paying much more attention to Mariah, Meri’s daughter at the expense of his other kids. Case in point, him not being right beside Christine when her daughter got seriously ill. It was really evident when Mariah head b##ch in charge, refused to consider going to a less expensive college. And she is such a master manipulator. She gushes on about needing to go to this super expensive school, in Utah, so she can meet a man, who is a polygamous. Who knows if she is even going to meet someone to marry while she is in college. And she knew by mentioning that, Kody and the rest of the wives, would be on board to send her to this expensive school, even though the rest of the kids, have to go to colleges half the price. She like her mom Meri is a master manipulator.

The disconnect on Kody’s part is ridiculous. This is what is to be expected when there are seventeen kids around. When Kody the father first noticed his daughter was not her usual self he should have taken her to the doctor immediately. And when Christine did take Truly to the doctor, Kody should have immediately cut this “shopping” trip and have rushed to see about his daughter. It is not surprising that he was out with Mariah and couldn’t leave without that spoiled brat putting up a hissy fit. Christine contacted Kody when she was taking their daughter to the doctor, he should have turned around from whatever he was doing and met her at the doctors office. He is a horrible father. And Mariah has him wrapped around her fat little finger.

Nobody noticed this child had taken any liquids until her kidneys shut down???? The downside of planning some stupid recommitment ceremony and having 22 kids.

I wondered the same thing. When a child is ill isn’t it common sense to INCREASE fluids? The problem here is there are too many people in charge. When everyone is in charge (4 moms, 1 dad, and all the older sibs), than no one is in charge and things like making sure that Truely is getting plenty of fluids when she’s ill fall through the cracks.

yeah Kody does not want his wives to remarry after his death, But he can find any woman and marry them. Are these wommen supporting him? how can they all buy newly build homes? Kody is so full of himself Its always about him He always knows what is best. What do these women see in him? they are there to serve him. now he does not want to spend money to send his kids to college.. We all know the reason. What does Kody do with hos money? the women in this family are supporting each house

Poor Little Baby

Posted at 3:45 PM on January 26, 2014

She is just so adorable and precious. This is a terrible disease and can kill. Christine is an excellent Mom, she took the babe to the hospital as soon as her daughter told her what was happening. Kody should have taken her earlier because his older daughters pointed it out to him also. It’s not only the wife or the older kids responsibility. Kody said he would take care of the children. All that really matters is that Christine got her to the Hospital and hopefully it’s all okay. But in the future either Kody steps it up as a father or the Moms give their eldest daughters permission slips to bring the kids to the doctors or ER when they are sick or hurt. She was just starting to grow in those white ringlets of curls and started to speak a lot. So adorable. I have not read anything saying she didn’t make it, so I hope tonight I find out she’s ok.

Christine took her to the doctor as soon as she came home and she just had the flu. They didn’t realize that she was getting worse till Christine saw her go cross eyed. This isn’t anyone’s fault. They’ve done everything right and took care of it as soon as they saw signs.

yes, it is someone’s fault. With all the publicity about the widespread flu epidemic and health agencies urging anyone over the age of 6 months to get a flu shot, why did this child not get one? She could have died. Many do.

I seriously doubt Christine took Truely to the doctor prior to the filmed visit. For one thing, no medical doctor would have looked at a child as listless and ill as Truely and send her home with a ‘flu’ diagnosis. Secondly, there is no way the production company would have missed the opportunity of upping the drama of multiple doctors visits and misdiagnosis ‘excitement’. Thirdly, in a previous season, Mykelti was thrown from a horse and was injured pretty badly. Instead of taking her to the ER like a sensible parent, Christine took her to a chiropractor for an adjustment.
Polygamists have historically avoided hospitals and medical treatment to avoid exposure for their multiple wives and children. Hospitals are mandated abuse and neglect reporters, so there is a fear of CPS involvement, not to mention fraud after paperwork in completed.
The story about Truely being sent home with a flu diagnosis is an attempt to save face. That is all.

Just more drama….I doubt very much that a nurse would say, “normally a kid with this would not come home” as drama Kody says. This is not reality TV but a soap opera. I hope the little girl is ok but they are dramatizing it for ratings. That’s my opinion. I’m sure Meri will have another meltdown as well….that’s her role
