This description of Eric’s death could not be more pitiful and inaccurate. If he would have been pissed about his sister dying and stood on a roof and killed himself that would be “on his terms.” Instead he is caught off guard naked and scared as he burns a helpless pathetic death. I’m sorry, but Northman is one of the best characters on any show of all time and he carried this show in particular. I’m watching the next season only until it is 100% that he will not be saved by Pam, if he is really dead, I will never watch this show again. The writers could not have done a worse job with this period.

I’m more pissed what they did with Warlow than with Eric. But Eric’s case still saddened me, because of how pathetic his death was.
“Let’s show the world his cock to make ‘em shut up about his potential death”.

If Eric died alone, naked in the Swiss Alps, he didn’t die on his terms. He died alone and naked. Couldn’t they have had him die at least saving all the vampires instead of Bill? I won’t watch this show again if he isn’t back. I watched it because of Eric and Sookie. I wanted them to get together and held out hope that they would eventually get together. Since Sookie was never with the real Eric, I thought the writers would at the very least give the fans of the show what they were wanting for a little while. That death was a joke. Eric is a 1,000 years old and he wouldn’t have thought about the fact that his day walking could be temporary? He was too smart for this. This has to be just a cruel joke the writers have decided to play on their loyal viewers. They will be surprised next year when they loose over half of their audience.

listen i think its really crappy what they did with eric’s death but all of you who say “im gna quit the show if he doesn’t return”.. simply wasn’t fans of the show to begin with. People who watch shows for purely one character shouldn’t even call themselves a fan. its insulting.

Eric is mostly likely not dead people. He was probably saved at the last second in some convoluted plot twist probably by Pam or someone else.

If this was the last of Eric it is ridiculous. Yes, he died on his own terms and whatever… but just think that pretty much the entire 9th episode of the last season was about reminiscing about Terry, who, being the wonderful character he was, was nowhere near to the level of popularity that Eric has. This could not have been Eric’s last moment, too banal, too stupid, too small. Never EVER would a serious main streem writer decide to kill a major character off like this. It is definitely just a hook to have people watch season 7 after the INCREDIBELY weak season 6, that was incapable of keeping any character development at least a little bit in tact. sorry, but as much as i would like to know what really happened to Eric I’m not sure if i’d be watching next year. below average season!!!

I hope Bill dies a terrible death the next season in exchange for eric northman, but that won’t happen.

Bill plays the martyr now after loosing Lilith’s power. Suddenly he’s all good. :/

In fact what they did with Eric is crucial for the show. Whether he lives or dies in season 7 is irrelevant to the regisseur, because now they got us “trapped” with that question so we’ll have to watch the next season to find out. It’s just a bad catch 22.

Eh, the whole show has gotten so wonky, its hard to especially care at this point. I am guessing that Eric will be miraculously saved by Pam, somehow, but if not, his death shouldn’t make us all stop watching the show (even those who, like me, watch the show in large part so I can watch ASkars’ loveliness). Besides, if they let it stand, it was great, as true deaths go. In the first instance, it was hilarious. Was there a more fitting way for Eric to meet the true death than sunbathing naked on a Scandanavian mountaintop? I would LOVE to know what book he was reading – its no doubt part of the joke. Seriously, I would have been upset at his death, but I couldn’t stop laughing at the utter surprise on his face… Eric’s final “oh s&*t” moment!! No force less than the sun and smaller than his own ego could have taken him down.

Second, for those of you who haven’t read the books – major spoiler alert – Sookie and Eric don’t end up together there either. I know the show has so little to do with the books at this point that it hardly bears mentioning, but let’s just say it shouldn’t have been a surprise.

So let’s hang in like good Truebies, and see where we go from here. If the writing continues to be this hacky (seriously, waste a half an ep on Terry’s funeral, and then kill Eric in, like, five unceremonious seconds?) it won’t be around much longer for us to miss Eric anyway.

I really don’t care if Eric died or not. I just think they way the ended it sucked. And I think Alcied is hot as all get out. I think it would have been cool if Bill died.

Never thought that women could be so whiny, when their boytoy gets axed. Grow up! The show was never Sookie-Eric. He was the obstacle thrown in.

While I am terribly upset that Eric might possibly be dead, my major complaint about the finale was the fact that he had so little screen time. Bill as usual was a complete bore, Alcide and Sookie No No No, I find his character disgusting, Jason screwing yet again, and the whole of Bon Temps is completely alien now. My wish for the show, the rogue vampires attack the town and kill everyone.

was pissed about the fact that all season there were no eric and sookie seasons except for the first episode… once warlow hit her in the finale i was like where the heck is eric, hes always there to save her, and then when he was on fire i sat there screaming at the tv and then when the time jump happened right after and eric wasnt so much as mentioned or pam i am left thinking they are both alive because willa and tara would have felt the loss and they would have at least mentioned it.. if they killed him off i am never watching that show again because eric and sookie are meant to be… he loves her and she loves him and to end that relationship in the first episode and not even have them together again this season and there after is no where near what the books the show is based on was about… as i said before if erics dead i am never watching it again bc i loved his character and without eric northman there will be a huge viking sized hole in the show that none of the other characters has the ability to fill.

He must make it to the next season, otherwise they will loose probably half of their fans… Including me.

If Eric is really dead, I am no longer watching the show and I am cancelling my HBO subscription…bottom line. Some shows have certain characters that should never die. True blood had that character in Eric Northman. I would have not shed one single tear if other stupid, annoying characters like Arlene, Tara, Alcide (yes I think he is over-rated), Andy, or Sam died…they irk me. And sookie irked me this season. Eric always captivated me and I am sooo pissed at HBO for this junk they called a finale!!!

Say it so, I don’t want Northman to go

I couldn’t agree anymore!
I genuinely think Eric is one of the main characters that keeps the show going.
But I do quite like Sookie and Eric!!!

I agree. I don’t think they would kill off Eric. He’s too big of a character and women love him! I think Pam saves him somehow.. not sure how,, but somehow. I hate Sookie and Alcede! Doesn’t make any sense! I thought she would go to Bill!!! I’m so bored with this show though. It was a good season but I FF past the whole Arlene Terry story line. complete waste of time. I liked jason this year, and jessica… The new chick with jason is cool and the end with the vamps coming for them that was ok. Last seasons ending was way better. Id like to see Bill and Sookie together again.. i never believed her with eric even though I loved watching! Bring eric back HBO… I wont watch either if he’s gone.

My theroy is if he does come back they will make it seem as if Jason was dreaming. Before Eric gave him his blood he asked if he had ever had it before and referenced the dreams. hmmmm
