Tyler Hilinski was a quarterback for Washington State University. He committed suicide when he was just 21 years old in Jan. 2018. After his death, an autopsy revealed that Tyler had Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). The medical examiner explained that Tyler’s condition meant that he had the brain of a 65 year old. Tyler was a red shirt during his first year at Washington State, and he served as the backup quarterback for the football team the following two years. He was expected to serve as starting quarterback during his junior year, which would’ve began eight months after his tragic death. Tyler, who was survived by two parents and two sibings, was found dead in his apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Jan. 16, 2018. He had left a suicide note.
