Rita Ora

Rita Ora — Born Rita Sahatçiu in Kosovo to Albanian parents, the world would come to know her as Rita Ora. From first performing at open mic sessions around London and occasionally in her father’s pub, she eventually signed a deal with Roc Nation in December 2008. She made cameos in Drake’s ‘Over’ video and Jay Z’s ‘Young Forever,’ while working on her own music. Her breakthrough came in 2012, with ‘R.I.P.’ It debuted at the top of the UK Singles Charts, her first ever solo UK Number one. She released her debut album, Ora, in 2012, and was critically acclaimed. She eventually split from Roc Nation in 2015, filing a lawsuit to get out of her contract, citing an ‘irrevocably damaged’ relationship. Roc Nation countersued but the two parties settled in May 2016. A month later, she signed with Atlantic Records, and in May 2017, she released ‘You Song,’ her first solo single in almost two years. Phoenix, her second album, arrived in November 2017, and her success has carried her onward since then.
