Rickey Smiley has done – and continues to do it all. After working hard at honing his comedic chops, he got his big break in 2000 when he was named the host of BET’s ComicView. The role would boost his stand-up career, which would result in him making appearances on Showtime at the Apollo, Def Comedy Jam, and more. In 2002, he appeared in Friday After Next, the third installment in Ice Cube’s Friday franchise. He would also appear in movies like Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming and Baggage Claim. On the small screen, Rickey landed two shows on TV ONE: his sit-com, The Rickey Smiley Show, and his reality-television program, Rickey Smiley For Real. However, he is perhaps best known as a radio host. In 2004, he landed the morning show slot at Dallas’s KBFB. While hosting the program, he perfected his prank call skills. In 2020, the Rickey Smiley Morning Show replaced the Tom Joyner Morning Show, bringing his humor and showcase to a wider audience.
