Rexx Life Raj is a Berkeley superhero, and he’s here to save the rap game. Hailing from the Bay Area, Rexx (born Faraji Wright) grew up loving music and being politically minded. His mother was heavily involved in his church’s choir and his father was active in the Black Panther party. Both influences can be found on Rexx’s work, especially on 2019’s Father Figure 3. The rapper and former Division I Boise State football player stopped by HollywoodLife to chat about the album.
“Father Figure 3 is the most polished version of Raj because I’ve made over 200+ songs and found myself in the process,” Raj said of the album. “Also, I’ve been working with some of the best producers I’ve ever worked with for this project.” Some of the producers include DTB, Wax Roof, Drew Banga and Kenny Beats. He also collaborated with Kehlani Bas, and Jay Prince on tracks from the album. While he said that this may be the last Father Figure installment, it’s not the last time we’ve heard of the man called Rexx Life Raj.
