Washington Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar is seen in pursuit of a Detroit Lions player during the second half of an NFL football game, in Landover, Md
on Nov. 24, 2019. Quinton began his road the the NFL by playing for the University of Florida. He started there in 2010 with a football scholarship under then-coach Urban Meyer. Wide receiver Quinton ended up red-shirting his freshman year and played the following for years for the Gators.
Quinton went undrafted in the NFL’s 2015 draft, but was later picked up in free agency by the Washington Redskins. The team switched him from wide receiver to cornerback, and he ended up playing for the squad until 2019.
In March 2020, the Redskins traded Quinton to the Seattle Seahawks. He was thrilled to make the move to a team with a more recent Super Bowl history. In a May 14, 2020 media day with the local press, he said “I was excited,” when learning he was joining the Seahawks. ” What a better fit, what a better culture. They’re a winning culture and have been winning for awhile.” He continued, “As far as the fit, I feel like their defense is who I am,” saying he’s their ideal cornerback because he “has the type of mentality to fit in.” Quinton said that he modeled his game after watching then-Seahawks star cornerback Richard Sherman, 32, play for the team in his seven successful years as a ‘hawk, which helped Quinton as he transitioned from wide receiver to cornerback after college.
Later that day an arrest warrant for Quinton was issued by the Miramar, FL police dept. He was wanted on four counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm in connection with a robbery that went down at a house party the night before. Also named was NY Giants rookie Deandre Baker, who faced the same charges with additional counts of aggravated assault.
