Paul McCartney’s Family — Sir Paul McCartney is not only a world-famous songwriter, but he is also a proud father of 5. He has four children with his first wife Linda McCartney — James, Mary, Stella –along with adopted daughter Heather, who is Linda’s daughter with ex-husband Joseph Melville See. Linda sadly lost her battle with breast cancer in 1998, passing away at just 56 years old.

Stella is perhaps the most famous of Paul’s brood with Linda, going on to become a famous fashion designer with her namesake line, which she launched in 2001. Mary is also a respected photographer in her own right, following in her mother’s footsteps, while James has pursued a career in music and songwriting. Notably, Heather is stayed out of the public eye in recent years but is a trained, professional potter who once had her own homewares line.

Paul went on to marry second wife Heather Mills in 2002, welcoming youngest daughter Beatrice in Oct. 2003.

Linda was a muse to Paul. She also one of Paul’s band Wings and often photographed the star. When she passed away from breast cancer in 1998 Paul told BBC, “I think I cried for about a year on and off. You expect to see them walk in, this person you love, because you are so used to them. I cried a lot. It was almost embarrassing except it seemed the only thing to do.”

He talked about the influence his father had on him in a 2018 interview with GQ, explaining how he was “more careful in everything”, compared to bandmate John Lennon.

“My dad is a very strong factor in this. He was an ordinary working-class guy, very intelligent, very good with words, but his whole philosophy was to think it out a bit. So that, that turned out to be my sort of way. Whereas John, you’ve got to remember, didn’t have a father. John didn’t even have an uncle. He went to live with the uncle — the uncle died. His dad had run away. So John felt like he was a jinx on the male line, he told me. I had a father. He was always spouting to be tolerant. Moderation. These were words he used a lot, and I think I listened.”

He said he admires how Nancy is “real” while talking to The Mirror in Nov. 2021. “If you had to say one word about her, it’s that she’s real,” he explained. “I have a beautiful picture of when we went to the White House. It’s of Nancy and me talking to Barack and Michelle Obama, and we’re laughing at something the president said. Nancy is paying such attention. She’s a great person. She’s multifaceted.”

Stella McCartney at the Ritz

She stepped down from the esteemed post to launch her own namesake label in 2001, which has since expanded into kids and menswear, along with a number of collaborations with brands like Adidas.

Mary McCartney

Mary McCartney — Mary McCartney is Paul’s second eldest child with late wife Linda. Like her mother, the raven haired beauty pursued a career as a professional photographer. She’s also dabbled as a filmmaker, producing a documentary about her father’s career after the Beatles.

The couple was married in 2002 and had a tumultuous relationship that ended in 2006. The contentious divorce wasn’t finalized until 2008, when Heather was awarded £24.3 million (about $48.6 million), plus payments of £35,000 per annum, for a nanny and school costs for their child. She had originally requested upwards of £125 million (around $251 million), according to CNN.

Heather had less than kind things to say about Paul in a 2015 interview with The Guardian. “I don’t want to go into my second marriage too much because if you haven’t got something nice to say about someone you shouldn’t say anything at all, and it had a lot to do with the person I married,” she said.

James McCartney

James McCartney — James McCartney is Paul and Linda’s only son — and their youngest child together. Like his father, James has pursued a career in music, playing guitar on Paul’s solo projects before launching his own. James has released three of his own albums so far.

Beatrice McCartney

Beatrice McCartney — Paul McCartney welcomed his youngest daughter Beatrice with second wife Heather Mills in 2003 — a year after the couple married. Beatrice was conceived after Heather struggled with her fertility and had several miscarriages.
