Nicole Curran became the target of online trolls after an ESPN video of her talking to Beyonce and Jay-Z at a June 5, 2019 NBA Finals game, went viral. Curran – who is married to the Golden State Warriors co-owner, Joseph S. Lacob, was leaning over the singer to talk to her rapper husband. Beyonce appeared to be uncomfortable and seemingly glared at the socialite during the exchange. The BeyHive – her devoted fans – shared their disapproval on social media. The backlash was so bad that Curran disabled her Instagram account, claiming that she had received death threats and was the target of cyber bullying.
A former public school teacher, Curran is also president of the board of the Warriors’ Community Foundation, which ‘supports education and youth development to promote thriving students, schools and communities,’ according to its website. The foundation has given back extensively to the Bay Area, including donating 15,000 tickets and $8.4 million in grants.
