Miss Universe 2019 — Cheslie Kryst, Miss USA 2019 on stage during the National Costume Show at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta on Friday, December 6, 2019. Cheslie wore in an incredible goddess-like gown designed by Martin Izquierdo, and, upon closer look, the costume took inspiration from a number if iconic American symbols. The decadent and angelic wings reference Maya Angelou’s classic novel I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, the crown and torch are a nod to NYC’s Statue of Liberty, and the headband is a call to World War II icon Rosie the Riveter.

The National Costume Show is an international tradition where contestants display an authentic costume of choice that best represents the culture of their home country. The Miss Universe contestants are touring, filming, rehearsing and preparing to compete for the Miss Universe crown in Atlanta.
