Meet Maya Wiley: lawyer, wife, mother of 2 and one of the candidates in New York City’s mayoral race of 2021. Born in Washington D.C, Wiley had an upbringing that involved political activism since she was very young. Her father and mother both encouraged her to pursue progressive politics, and in turn, Wiley went on to finish her education at Dartmouth College and Columbia University, where she earned her law degree. From that moment onward, it was her destiny to reach for something bigger in the political spectrum.
Wiley served for the U.S Attorney Office for the Southern District of New York, and later was appointed counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2014. Later, in October 2020, she announced that she’d be running for Mayor of New York City in the 2021 election. Enter an exclusive interview Wiley did with us at HollywoodLife, and you’ll learn all you need to know about this promising, powerhouse candidate.
