The Indian actress and model made a mark in history when she became the first Indian woman to win Miss World 2017 since Priyanka Chopra (yes, one of India’s highest-paid celebrities of all time… oh yeah, and only the love of Nick Jonas’ life, NBD).
Chopra was crowned the prestigious title back in 2000, which means it has been 17 whole years since India has gotten some proper representation around the world. Today, Chhillaris is officially the sixth Indian woman to win the big crown.
Her talents certainly do not stop there, though. She has made her way from the pageant stage onto the big screen, becoming one of Bollywood’s hottest stars. In November 2020 she will be playing the lead role of Princess Samyukta in the historical period drama film Prithviraj.
On the side, Chhillar even runs a project called “Beauty with a Purpose,” in which she spreads awareness about menstrual hygiene.
