Born Emily Kopp, Lowen released her debut EP, Only In My Dreams in October 2019 – and immediately established her as a powerful songwriter, one who feels best when singing about her “lived-in” life. After struggling to find a foothold in the music industry, Lowen and her partner sold their possessions to travel across the world. Doing odd jobs for money and lodging, the couple lived across the globe and in doing so, Lowen found herself in both her music and in the mirror. Upon returning home to the States, she began writing what would be the debut ep. Only In My Dreams includes the title track, about connecting with loved ones who passed on. “Morning, Mourning,” the lead single, is based on the true experience of Lowen falling in love with the woman who would be her life – while she, Lowen, was involved with her childhood sweetheart. Such honesty is the “tone” she wanted to set as a songwriter, and one that will be with her in all of her music
