Lady A, fka Lady Antebellum, formed in 2006 in Nashville, Tennessee. Consisting of Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood, and Charles Kelley, the group made their recording debut as guest vocalists on Jim Brickman’s single, “Never Alone.” In 2008, their released their then-self-titled debut, ‘Lady Antebellum,’ kicking off a career that would see them achieve fortune and fame. Their first handful of singles – “Love Don’t Live Here,” “Looking For A Good Time,” and “I Run To You” found themselves towards the top of the charts, with the last one reaching the top spot on the US Hot Country charts. It was their sophomore release, Need You Now, that really rocketed them into the stratosphere. The title track hit the top of the US Hot Country charts (and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100) and the album itself went platinum four times. On top of that, it won a slew of Grammys, including Best Country Album, Song of the Year (“Need You Now”), Record Of The Year, Best Country Song, and Best Country Performance By A Duo Or A Group. In 2020, in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd, the group rebranded as Lady A, ditching the slavery-associated “antebellum.”
