Jose Andres in his Minibar restaurant in Washington. The chef is known for founding the World Central Kitchen, a humanitarian organization that helps feed the hungry and needy during times of crisis. Often, the World Central Kitchen can be found on the front lines of natural disasters. When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, it marked the first time that the Work Central Kitchen used its efforts to help those affected by war.
Here, Jose poses for a different kind of clash. Donald Trump’s organization sued the celebrity chef for backing out of a hotel project in Washington. Andres had planned to open a restaurant at the Trump International Hotel. Trump’s organization was selected by the federal government to renovate the historic Old Post Office building on Pennsylvania Avenue and turn it into a luxury hotel. However, Trump’s brand turned toxic during the arguably corrupt and shameless administration, prompting Andres to pull out. The two ultimately settled.
