John Belushi was a famous comedian who got his start on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ He was one of the original cast members when the show premiered in 1975. ‘SNL’ catapulted John to a major star. He was a cast member from 1975 to 1979. John notably starred in ‘National Lampoon’s Animal House’ in 1978. One of his famous skits from ‘SNL’ with Dan Aykroyd, the Blues Brothers, became a film in 1980. John sadly died on March 5, 1982. He was found dead in his bungalow at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. He was just 33 years old. The official cause of death was an overdose of heroin and cocaine, known as a speedball. Cathy Smith, who supplied John with the drugs that killed him, served 15 months in prison in connection with his death. John was survived by his wife, Judith Jacklin Belushi.
