What a funny guy! Jo Koy is a huge star in the stand-up comedy world. Much of his hilarious act revolves around his Filipino heritage, his mother and his son. Born on June 2, 1971, Jo got his first laugh when he performed in a coffee shop called Buzzy’s Cafe in Las Vegas. Since then, there’s been no turning back, as he has often said his life dream was to become a comedian.
Now he regularly breaks attendance records, including the most consecutive sold-out shows for a comedian. In 2017, Jo set the record for the most tickets sold by a single artist at 23,000 tickets and 11 sold-out shows at The Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu. The mayor of Honolulu would go on to proclaim November 24th as “Jo Koy Day.”
Jo made 140 appearances as a season regular roundtable guest on Chelsea Handler’s talk show “Chelsea Lately.” He has made several other late night show appearances and has a hit Netflix special as well. He has also starred in various films, including ‘Easter Sunday,’ which he came up with the idea for, and was named host of the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
