Before that, she was already and extremely popular singer and television personality. Jessica won the People’s Choice Award for ‘Favorite Song from a Movie’ for her cover of Nancy Sinatra’s ‘These Boots Are Made For Walkin’. She also took home the Choice Breakout Female award for her role as Daisy Duke at the Teen Choice Awards. Jessica’s sultry role — as the blonde, jean-short-wearing, tummy-baring, protagonist — helped solidified her as a triple-threat in Hollywood. But, it also caused fans to set an unrealistic standard of what they believed her body should look like. The singer later revealed in her 2020 memoir, Open Book, that the Daisy Dukes shorts she wore in Dukes of Hazzard set a ‘gold standard Jessica,’ which led to criticism over her weight for the next 15 years, through three pregnancies.
