‘I Was Lorena Bobbitt’ — ‘I Was Lorena Bobbitt’ premieres May 25 on Lifetime. The film is part of the network’s ‘Ripped from the Headlines’ slate of films. The movie stars Dani Montalvo and Luke Humphrey as the controversial couple Lorena and John Wayne Bobbitt. ‘I Was Lorena Bobbitt’ follows Lorena’s account leading up to that fateful day when, after years of alleged abuse by her husband, she cut off his penis with a knife in 1993. Lorena and John Wayne Bobbitt would both go to trial, with Lorena being charged with malicious wounding and John Wayne Bobbitt charged with marital sexual assault. Both were acquitted in their trials. Lorena serves as executive producer and on-screen narrator. In addition, Lifetime will run a PSA for the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence featuring the actors and Lorena Bobbitt, as part of Lifetime’s public affairs campaign, Stop Violence Against Women.
