Highlands Ranch School Shooting — Police and others are seen outside STEM School Highlands Ranch, a charter middle school in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, after the tragic, May 7 shooting. In total, eight people were injured, and one student died that day. The Douglas County sheriff’s office released the name of one of the suspects in the STEM school shooting. They announced on Twitter, “Adult suspect has been identified as Devon Erickson, age 18. We will not be releasing any photos at this time as it could jeopardize this critical on-going invest,” they explained. The deceased student, Kendrick Castillo, 18, was a student at the high school, and bravely stepped in to try to stop the active shooter that day. The school shooting has once again caused students and parents nationwide to call for reformed gun control laws.
